Ekso Bionics was created by Homayoon Kazerooni in 2005 and is located in San Rafael, California. It’s one of the biggest medical exoskeleton manufacturers with use in over 400 centers globally. It was one of the first companies to receive FDA approval for its medical exoskeleton. EksoNR, their flagship product, is used for physical therapy for patients with stroke, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, or traumatic brain injury.

Ekso Bionic NR is one of the most advanced exoskeletons for use in rehabilitation settings at the moment. It's easy adjustment mechanism makes it simple to use for trained therapists. Although it can ambulate over-ground with minimal supervision, it is not cleared for home use. Because it features many adjustment points such as hip breadth and abduction angle, these more complex mechanism make it heavier than other devices (20kg). It is not intended for stair climbing. [1]

Who can use it

The exoskeleton is used by rehabilitation professionals in a clinical setting for recovery from Spinal Cord Injury. It’s possible to use for Persons with Para- as well as Quadriplegia.
